It is a blessing and a curse that so many awesome places do take out on my way home from work. Let’s think about this from Poplar to Belvedre to Harbert, there are some fantastic places to eat when I take just a right or left off my normal course home. Let’s not even talk about the places on course. This is when I have an issue when I work late and don’t want to cook.
Take out. Most of those days, I take a left on Madison and swing by the Kwik Chek.
Yep. That sign says it all. This convenience store, turned restaurant, is still turning out some of the best Korean-Greek food you can find in Memphis. The sandwiches are some of Memphis’s greatest. In fact Urban Spoon gives it a 96% approval rating.
Among my favorite are the Hey Zeus (pictured above), the My Feta Smells So Good, The Turk and the Memphis. Many, MANY people rave about the muffeleta, but I am not an olive fan (i know, i know.) but I take their words for it. In addition to delicious sandwiches, they will serve up some of Memphis’ best Korean delights like Bi Bim Bop. Again still on my list, but I hear it is better served in person that in take out so that is my excuse.
Ok. Mem-folk. Eat here. Seriously. Among my most favorite places to eat. It ain’t fancy or fast, but damn is it delicious. And one of my favorite spots to park on my way home from a very long day’s work.
